Any eta for the PHP 8 loaders? Will they become available this year? |

However, bundling will be supported, of course, so you will be able to produce files with 5.6/7.1/8 encoding included in each.

We do not have an actual release date as yet for the version 11 Encoder or for an encoder for PHP 8.
However, version 11 should appear in Q1 2021. As I have mentioned previously, there will not be a backwards compatible loader for PHP 8.

I hear you! The latest development has definitely taken longer than anticipated, but it is progressing.
When you say, 'our main project is released with php8 support', do you mean that you are using PHP 8 specific language features and it is not designed to work on PHP 7 or earlier, or something else? I'm wondering which component you specifically need.

Can you specify that more? 50%, 80% alpha? beta? RC?

I probably just need a compatible loader. Because the main project runs under php8, but don't use explicit php8 code. The same code runs also under PHP 7.4 / 7.3
This should be the same problem that almost everyone here on the forum has. |

What's really needed is a date, which we can't give at the moment. There are actually two developments in the pipeline to be released that relate to each other, PHP 7.4 language support in the Encoder and PHP 8 Encoder/Loader support. Right now you can run code on PHP 7.4, but developers cannot use new features of the language that appeared in 7.4, and therefore 8, and supporting those features has taken longer than anticipated. So the next release will introduce support for the new language features in 7.4, and the release after that will be for PHP 8.
